Ohio County Receives Federal Disaster Declaration

Ohio County Included in Federal Disaster Declaration for June Flooding Events
Wheeling, W.Va.— Ohio County has been included in a federal disaster declaration (https://www.fema.gov/disaster/4884) for flooding occurring on June 14, 2025 – June 15, 2025, allowing residents to apply for federal disaster assistance.
“This declaration means help is coming for those who were hit the hardest,” said Lou Vargo, Director of the Wheeling–Ohio County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. “We know recovery isn’t easy, but this is an important step forward.”
Federal assistance may include resources for temporary housing, repairs, replacement of essential belongings, and other programs to support the recovery of individuals, families, and businesses. More information on how to apply, locations of Disaster Recovery Centers, and deadlines will be shared as soon as it is available.
Residents with damages are encouraged to:
- Document damages with photos and lists
- Keep receipts from repairs
- Have proof that damages were submitted to insurance
- Stay tuned for next steps
